Mahatma Gandhi
2006 October 23
Radhika Rangaraju wrote about Gandhi at the start of the month. She speaks vividly about what Gandhi meant to India and to the world. What interested me most though was her admittance that Gandhi was never a hero for her when she was young. Che Guavara and Lenin were the sexier (my words, not hers) options – they were heroes that could be romanticized. Gandhi was too real to be a poster or a t-shirt. Being real, or having integrity, is key to being a hero. Mohandas “Mahatma” Gandhi even had a quote that sums the whole thought up.
“My life is my message.”
What message is your life sending?
