Norman Borlaug

I’ve just discovered the story of Norman Borlaug – the man who saved a billion lives.  Basically he increased the ability for wheat crops to survive better and doubled (maybe tripled) the production of wheat in Mexico, India, and Pakistan.  He has since moved onto Asia and Africa.  He won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1970 and, as a hero, responded that it wasn’t really about him, rather the power of agriculture.  He’s worth reading about and of course he has entered the Gallery of Heroes.
