The fictional Santiago Munez who is the saviour of this little blog seems to have a real life counterpart.  Jay DeMerit has his very own rags to riches soccer story in which he leaves America in search of European glory.  You can read about it and listen to an interview at this link.

Irena Sendlerowa’s life looks set to become a movie.  Lawrence Spagnola is writing a screenplay about the Polish hero’s life and, really, the story itself has Oscar potential all over it.  It will be interesting to see what becomes of it.
