Finding The Hero Inside

Hero #30 of 30 – Aang

Posted by Matt Langdon on November 29, 2007

journeyaang.gifAnother fictional hero on a journey today. This is the last of the series and the beginning of a new series that will be featured on the Kid’s Blog. Steve is beginning an alphabetic procession of heroes until Christmas Day. He will be going through the alphabet one day at a time, featuring hero’s journeys and hero profiles.  A is for Aang.

In Aang’s world there are four nations; the Water Tribe, Earth Kingdom, Fire Nation, and the Air Nomads. Each nation can control their element by way of “bending.” The earth benders can move rocks and the ground, the water benders can move water and make ice, the fire benders can create fire, and Aang, who is the last airbender, can move the air around him.

Aang is the Avatar and he can bend all the elements any time he wants. There is only one Avatar alive at a time and his or her job is to keep balance and peace with the four nations. Unfortunately, while Aang was stuck in a ball of ice, the Fire Nation attacked and started to take over his world. He is awakened from his icy cage and must master all the elements and restore peace to the world.

  1. Excellent!

I am going to ask my 11 year-old to take a look and give me his response. I know that both of my children have enjoyed this show. I’ll be interested in his response!

    My best,

P.S. I would really love to have you come to my kids’ school. So I am thinking about ways to make that happen given that we are a small private Montessori school! Perhaps via the kids’ blog? Could be a great way to get teacher’s interests piqued.
