Leo Major Has Died

A number of people, including his son, have contacted me to let me know that Leo Major died last week.  He passed away with his family in the early morning of October 12th.

Leo performed a number of heroic acts during World War II and remained a shining example throughout his life, including another amazing act in the Korean War.  You can read about his life in the Gallery of Heroes, as shared by his son, Jocelyn.  His friend, Willy Arseneault, was an inspiration to him.

I was able to interview him through his son and email last year.  Leo said he did what he did because it had to be done – a familiar response from heroes.  You can read the full interview by clicking here.

Leo’s death (and life) was recognized in the Canadian press this week and all across Zwolle in the Netherlands.  In the town where he saved many lives he is being remembered as a true, humble hero.
