CNN Heroes: Ordinary People, Extraordinary Impact
Posted by Matt Langdon on November 17, 2008
CNN is running their hero program again on Thanksgiving night with Anderson Cooper. Ten heroes have been shortlisted by a CNN panel and they’re asking for the public to vote a winner. Voting closes on Thursday though, so get over there now to pick a winner. Click here for the list of heroes.
There are seven categories in their gallery, but nine of the shortlisted group come from just two; Community Crusader and Championing Children. It shows where the minds of the selection panel are. Many of those Community Crusaders are doing thing for people outside of their immediate community. They’re helping people who have been hit by disaster, or those living in poverty on the other side of the world.
There is a lot of information available for each of the heroes nominated, all reachable through a “front page” for each. I dare you to read through each “front page” and not ask yourself what you can do to help other people. It’s an inspiring program and CNN should be congratulated for making it happen again.
Side note to educators: There is a resource page for educators on the Heroes site. Click here.
