    Hey stranger!
I really wish that you could bring your program to my classroom next year. I really think with the student population that we have at our school it would really benefit them. The only thing is we are 1200 miles away.. :-( That sitnks. I read some of the testimonials and some of the blogs. You really have a great thing going for you and that is AWESOME! Keep it up, I hope that someday I could sit through one of your sessions. Keep in touch.

    Best Wishes,

    Leah K.

    Hi there Matt,
Just popped over to say thank you for your comments on my article ‘
Are You an Unsung Hero?’ I would be delighted to help you in any way I can, I feel it is very important for kids to understand what a real hero is, so you are welcome to put a link to my web address of my article anywhere you like. You can email me with any questions you like, and publish my replies if you want to.
Have a very Merry Xmas and a Happy New Year, Linda

Hi! I want to ask you a question because you know a lot about heroes. I am going to create a contest that recognizes women heroes and I would like the prize to be symbolic: tied to some kind of legend or story. Unfortunately, all the hero legends I find where the hero is honored with a gift in return are usually immortality, a girl, a sword or a cloak. Do you know of any hero story where the hero is rewarded with some kind of symbol or something they can hold in their hand? Thank you so much for your help.

    Hi Sarah,

Whitney Johnson has a post on Psyche’s hero’s journey that might have some ideas for you. http://daretodream.typepad.com/weblog/2006/11/stories_we_love.html

The crystal flask could well be something that would work for you.

    Hi,

I really appreciate your site and bringing an approach and orientation that brings out a deeper and more meaningful possibility for youth and adults. I have a couple of questions for you:

    1) What do you see is the role of somatics, neuroscience and the emobiement traditions with the work that you do?

    2) Have you seen any models that convert the hero’s journey into a developmental framework or other framework that contains more generative language? I’m thinking of Stephen Gilligain’s idea of sponsorship. I’ll try to create my own framework but if you know of one please share.

With appreciation of the heroic journey,

    Tivo

Thanks for the comments Tivo. I have a friend who studies neuroscience applications to interaction and we’ve talked quite a bit on the heroism subject. I’m also working in the Heroic Imagination Project which is linked to the Center for Compassion and Altruism: Research and Education. http://compassion.stanford.edu/ Jim Doty is the founder and neuroscientist – I had some talks with him recently too.

I haven’t seen any frameworks, but please let me know if you find any.

I didn’t answer your first question. Basically I’m leaving anything to do with neuroscience to the experts and hoping they’re able to explain it clearly to me :)

What’s up with the survey link? I go thought to:
    http://www.socialpsychresearch.org/
And if you highlight the page it looks like a bunch of porn links at the bottom. I’m willing to do the survey – or maybe it was over last year?

Phill, the link is dead as the survey was filled up. They had to stop taking submissions to make sure the research was done according to the required standards.

    Dear Matt,

I´ve already sent you an email because of the contents on socialpsychresearch.org.
You should delete the hidden links you haven´t noticed yet (see Phill´s comment).

    Best regards
    Christine

I’ve removed the link, but I have no control over the management of the site. It would appear someone has taken over the domain name and posted those invisible links.
